Much e Many
Much acompanha incontáveis: much water, much time.
Many acompanha contáveis no plural: many books, many people.
Em frases afirmativas, ambos soam formais, e o uso corrente prefere a lot of: I have a lot of work.
A Lot Of e Lots Of
A lot of e lots of servem tanto para contáveis quanto para incontáveis e são neutros quanto ao registro.
a lot of friends, a lot of information.
Quando não há substantivo expresso, usa-se apenas a lot: She travels a lot.
(A) Few e (A) Little
A few e a little têm sentido positivo: indicam que existe alguma quantidade suficiente.
Few e little, sem artigo, têm sentido negativo: sugerem escassez.
Compare I have a few friends here (tenho alguns) com I have few friends here (tenho poucos).
Few vai com contáveis; little, com incontáveis.
